Gratitude Attracts Greater Abundance

“Nothing new can come into your life until you are grateful for what you have.” – Dr. Michael Beckwith, Agape International Spiritual Center

Besides just making us feel good and positively improving our health, having an attitude of gratitude actually attracts greater success and abundance into our life. How does this work?

Every thought we have is a quantum of energy that vibrates at a particular frequency. Negative, pessimistic and unhappy thoughts vibrate at a much lower frequency as compared to positive, happy and optimistic thoughts.

Since all matter in the universe is actually made up of vibrating atoms at the quantum mechanical level, our thoughts actually attract and shape the kind of people, object and events we experience in our lives. In my ‘Patterns of Excellence’ seminars, I demonstrate to the audience, to their amazement, how our thoughts actually travel and affect the people around us.

We tend to attract events and people that vibrate at the same frequency as our dominant thoughts. Simply put, if you constantly have positive, happy and grateful thoughts, you tend to attract even more happiness, abundance and positive circumstances into your life. You get more of what you focus on. This is a universal law of life. At the same time, if you always focus on lack and what you don’t have, you tend to attract more lack and more of what you do not want.

The Destructive Power of Ingratitude

The sad thing is that there are many people in life who have not learnt how to feel grateful for what they have. No matter where they are or how much they have achieved, they stay focused on what they lack or only on what doesn’t meet their expectations. As a result, they never allow themselves to feel good inside.

That’s crazy! Doesn’t it defeat the whole purpose of living our life and pursuing our goals? Isn’t our ultimate aim to experience the joy and fulfillment of living life?

We often read of people, like celebrities and millionaire CEOs who seem to have it all (i.e. money, power, fame, relationships etc…) but who are suffering from depression. As a result, they manifest physical illnesses like anxiety attacks, cancer and heart disease. This is because negative, angry, worried, hopeless and pessimistic thoughts activate our right pre-frontal cortex and flood our body with the stress hormones that depresses our mood and suppresses our immune system.

No matter what they have attained, these people feel that it is never enough for them to feel good inside. As a result, they find themselves having to turn to drugs, alcohol or food to fill the emotional pleasure that they lack. This in turn leads to even more emotional and physical problems.

The worst thing about it is that the more you focus on what you lack, the more lack you tend to attract into your life. When you don’t feel grateful for what you have, you are sending a message to the universe (or God) that you don’t deserve to get more of what life has to offer. When you are in a negative emotional and physical state, you will not have the passion and physical energy to notice and pursue the abundance of opportunities around you.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
